Te whāriki kiokio

Te Whāriki Kiokio was created to integrate traditional toi into a contemporary digital space. This installation aims to reconnect whānau to the stories embedded in tukutuku, transforming what is often viewed as “decoration” or background into a living, breathing experience. With Te Whāriki Kiokio, my intention was to restore the whakapapa of tukutuku and to remind people that every line, every pattern, carries meaning and wairua (spirit).
